The Cryptocurrency Market Gets Cut#
Last Saturday at 10 AM, Trump launched a cryptocurrency. Initially, when I saw the discussion in the group starting around ten, I thought it was ridiculous for a president to issue a coin. However, by the afternoon, I checked Twitter and was shocked to find it was real; the price had already reached $11, and I missed the opportunity. A day later, the price skyrocketed to 70, then dropped back to 42, and I finally jumped in, but now the price is at 27... sigh, I got stuck and became a victim. 😭
I missed a chance to get rich. Upon reflection, this seemingly profitable opportunity slipped away from me, not only because I wasn't sensitive to the idea of a president issuing a coin but also because I wasn't prepared to act when the opportunity arose. I waited until the FOMO period passed before entering, and by then, it was too late. Fortunately, I didn't invest too much, so I can only wait for Trump's coin to recover later.
Setting High Expectations but Not Achieving Them#
On Tuesday, I set my expectations too high and made a series of study plans, believing that my rational brain could overcome my primitive instincts and control my behavior. In reality, the rational part of my brain doesn't take over for long; most of the time, habits control my actions, and subconscious behaviors go unnoticed by my rational mind. Just like drinking water or eating, my body automatically generates feelings of thirst and hunger. If I feel empty or bored, I naturally open Bilibili or YouTube to scroll through content, and I end up opening various social media apps to do these simple, mindless activities to quench my thirst.
Overly blaming myself only weakens my confidence and leads to a defeatist attitude. Confucius, the sage of Confucianism, could accept criticism and embrace his imperfections, then improve. We shouldn't excessively blame ourselves for not controlling our behavior at times; recognizing our weaknesses is actually a good thing, as it helps us find a direction for improvement. We should try not to step into the same pit twice.
Returning Home for the New Year#
After returning home, I spent an entire afternoon building a racing LEGO set with my nephew. There were over a thousand pieces, and the variety was overwhelming. If they weren't sorted beforehand, it would have been impossible to finish; we really needed those specialized sorting boxes. It was chaotic during the first build.
Then, there was a lot of eating at banquets, with lunch followed by dinner. To be honest, ever since I started working out last year, I feel quite guilty about just indulging without training... Ugh! I must work hard after the New Year!
Since I grew up away from home, I'm not very familiar with relatives in my hometown. During the banquets, I felt a bit out of place, just making small talk for the sake of "face" and often calling people by the wrong names. Eating, hosting banquets, giving money, receiving money—it felt like a production line, exchanging pleasantries. Sigh, returning home for the New Year is really boring.
If I earn a bit more money this year, I should take my family on a trip for the New Year.
Open AI!#
On the morning of the 24th, OpenAI released the Operator model, which was quite shocking. The Operator can execute web and system operations based on user commands, such as booking hotels, ordering food, compressing images, and handling PDFs. The Operator is based on image operations, which is different from the previous agent based on APIs, making it closer to real human computer operations (mouse clicks, keyboard inputs). It feels like we're one step closer to AGI.
